Phase 1 · The Goethe Route · Innsbruck – Bologna

What is the Footsteps Visual Guild?

The Footsteps Visual Guild is a curated circle of photographers and filmmakers who help us tell the story of Europe's Grand Routes. We're not a stock agency. We commission and curate images that honour family-run hotels, lived-in places, and the kind of travel that changes people in their Silver Age.

Assignments along historic routes
From Innsbruck to Bologna and beyond, we follow the footsteps of great travelers and document the landscapes, cities, and people along the way.
Full credit & portfolio links
Every published image is credited by name and linked to your website or portfolio, with your own dedicated page on the Footsteps site.
Slow-travel photographers
You'll be in the company of creators who value depth, patience, and authenticity over viral shots and quick clicks.

The kind of stories we're telling

  • Autumn light on Lake Garda

Early-morning lakeside walks, soft water light, and the first guests coming down for breakfast.

  • Evenings in family-run inns

Hosts greeting guests by name, dinner being plated in the kitchen, laughter drifting in from the dining room.

  • Quiet piazzas of Verona

Empty streets just after rain, stone facades, and the way a city exhales when the crowds are gone.

Soon you'll see these stories in our online magazine and route guides.

How collaboration works today

To keep things clear from the start, here's how we currently work with photographers and videographers.

  • You keep your copyright
Your images remain fully yours. You stay free to use and license them elsewhere.
  • You grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence
For selected images, you allow Footsteps to use them in our digital magazine, website, route guides, printed materials, and our own social channels to promote the related stories and routes.
  • No cash payment for editorial use – for now
At this stage, we do not pay monetary fees for editorial use of images.
  • What you receive in return
A dedicated photographer page on the Footsteps site with your portfolio and contact details; a clear credit line with every published image; and direct links so hotels and travelers can find and contact you.

Coming later · Photographers' Marketplace (optional)

We're planning a future marketplace where you can offer and sell images directly to hotels and other partners through Footsteps.

  • You set the price for your images.
  • Footsteps takes a handling fee of no more than 20% on each sale.
  • Collaboration opportunities with our hotel partners are planned to be free to access.

This marketplace will be optional and covered by a separate agreement. The exact launch date and final shape are not guaranteed yet – this is our roadmap, not a promise of income.

Who we're looking for

We're interested in visual creators who care about story and atmosphere as much as sharpness and gear.

  • Photographers and filmmakers
You work mainly with stills, motion, or both – and you're comfortable documenting real people and real places.
  • A feel for the Innsbruck–Bologna corridor
You're based in, or can easily reach, Tyrol, South Tyrol, Lake Garda, Verona, Padua, Venice, Ferrara, Bologna, or surroundings.
  • A taste for slow, thoughtful travel
You're drawn to early mornings, late light, and the small, human details that make a place feel alive.

Important note

All written travel stories are produced in-house by the Footsteps editorial team.

At this stage, we are only recruiting photographers and videographers.

If this sounds like you, we'd love to see your work.
